In-patient care for your pets

We have spotless wards in both surgeries with kennels suitable for all our patients, whatever size.

In-patients are admitted to the ward as day cases for procedures such as surgery, blood tests, x-rays, ultrasounds and dentistry. We can provide intravenous fluid therapy with digital drip pumps, oxygen therapy, blood pressure measurement, feeding tubes and all types of medication including chemotherapy for cancer patients. Upon admission all patients have their weight, heart rate, respiratory rate and temperature recorded, and this is checked throughout the day depending on level of need.

All cats have a comfy bed, a litter tray, food and water. All dogs have a comfy bed, food and water and are taken out regularly for toileting purposes. All medication is prescribed and calculated by the veterinary surgeon on duty. Patients are monitored constantly by qualified veterinary nurses and any change in condition is immediately alerted to the duty vet.

Patients are returned home at the end of the day. If we decide that the patient needs overnight care, then we shall transfer care to Elizabeth Street Hospital.
