Surgical Procedures

This is an area that commonly worries pet owners, we hope that explaining all aspects of the particular procedure will help to relieve you of your fears. For gold standard anaesthesia, we use a combination of intravenous and inhalation agents similar to those used in human anaesthesia. All patients are carefully monitored both manually and electronically. Each patient has a unique chart to record measurements of heart rate, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation (to name but a few) and other observations made during the period of anaesthesia.

We have separate areas for ‘clean’ and ‘dirty’ procedures. Clean procedures are done in our main theatre area and include neutering, lump removals and any trauma incidences including orthopaedic repairs. Dirty procedures are carried out in a smaller area where we have a purpose-built dental table with ultrasonic cleaner and polisher.

We also pride ourselves on using the very highest standards of pain relief both before and after surgery to give your pet the best chance of leaving the surgery happy and pain free.
