News Letter June 2011

NEWSLETTER JUNE 2011

NATIONAL DENTAL CARE MONTH
We are offering free dental checks and samples of toothpaste, dental food etc during the month of June. Please call to make an appointment with us.
email addresses
We are looking to get as many of your email addresses as we can, so that we can remind you of important boosters and appointments. We are also up-grading our system so that you will be able to make appointments, order repeat prescriptions, food and parasite control through our web-site. We would be grateful for any suggestions or comments you may have.

Opening Hours
We are changing our opening hours in response to requests from our clients. We shall now offer early morning appointments from 8.30am, lunchtime appointments and longer consulting times on Saturdays. Barons Court will be open 9am-12pm and Notting Hill 11am -2pm. We shall no longer run the later evening surgeries on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Kennel Cough Vaccine
We are now recommending that all dogs that go to dog walkers or mix regularly with other dogs in Kensington Gardens, Holland Park, Normand Park and Bishop’s Park are vaccinated against Kennel Cough. This is an annual intra-nasal vaccine and can be done at the same time as the regular booster vaccine.
Puppies and Kittens from Loot and Gumtree etc.
We are seeing more and more sickly kittens and puppies bought from “breeders” advertising on the internet. If you want to buy a kitten or puppy, please give us a call and we shall advise you of what to do and what not to do. Most importantly, please try to make sure you see the mother of these animals before you buy in order to make sure she looks healthy. We strongly recommend that you bring in the kitten or puppy for a free check with the Vet within 48 hours of purchase.

Prescriptions
There is often some confusion over this. When we prescribe a drug for your pet, you are allowed to ask for a prescription so that you can buy the drug from somewhere else. We make a charge for this as directed by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The charge is £12+VAT. We run our own pharmacy, and all our drugs are sourced from reputable suppliers, transported and stored according to strict controls. If you wish to buy your drugs from elsewhere, please make sure that you use a reputable pharmacy. Please also be aware, that for long-term medications, we shall require to assess your pet regularly in order to make sure we are prescribing correctly.
